I have caught the travel bug and I blame it partly on our amazing honeymoon to Asheville, North Carolina. I learned awhile ago that a lot of couples looking for a wedding photographer don’t just assume that photographers will travel for weddings and that they actually have a hard time finding a photographer for their destination wedding! WHAT? I thought for years that everyone just knew this and I wondered how they found the photographer that they wanted to photograph their destination wedding! Since learning this I want to put the disclaimer out there that: Has Camera – Will Travel!
I have personally traveled to lots of locations in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville North Carolina, Big Sky Montana, Costa Rica, and more places through out the United States but I have a lot of destination locations that I would love to photograph couples on their wedding day! Even an anniversary session, engagement session or an elopement is absolutely worth traveling for!

Then this blog post about destination wedding locations and venues is definitely for you! These destination wedding locations expand from the mountains of Virginia to North Carolina and Montana, all the way to Canada, Ireland and Iceland!

Big Sky, Montana
I have a soft spot in my heart for Big Sky, Montana. I have skied there twice and have snowmobiled in Yellowstone twice. Winter weddings are stunning here and the summer weddings are simply breathtaking! If your heart for Big Sky is as big as Big Sky, then we have something wonderful in common and I will photograph your wedding day with the upmost care. Below is a list of other wedding locations in or near Big Sky, Montana that I would love to photograph a couple’s wedding day there. You cannot go wrong with any of these venues!
We vacationed for our honeymoon in Asheville, North Carolina and now we want to live there! We are a little far off from that but I would love any excuse to travel back there and photograph a destination wedding. There are endless options for a wedding venue from mountaintops, waterfalls, lodges, estates, to breweries you have so many wedding locations to choose from. We visited the Biltmore Estate and Craggy Gardens while in Asheville and I love showing both here because they could not be more different. If you are getting married in or near Asheville, chances are that you love adventure and I would love to photograph your love story through your adventurous side.
Can you imagine finding a private waterfall for your wedding ceremony? Or at Dyrholaey Sea Cliff? Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfall? Green Mountain? Sod Farm? Some of my friends went to Iceland recently and it seemed to be mesmerizing and so picturesque. I found one hotel that would be amazing to photograph at but again the options are endless in this panoramic view country.

Ireland has always been at the top of my list to visit and explore. The Cliffs of Moher would win over anyone’s heart that caught a glimpse of them! There are also a lot of hidden gems in houses and estates along the towns of Ireland. Below are just a few I found that I would love to photograph your wedding day at!

Peaks of Otter
Lets take a break from all of the different options in different countries and look at a location that is not to far from home. Peaks of Otter is in Bedford, Virginia. That is only about three hours away from the Hampton Roads! I have hiked and camped here several times and know all of the most breathtaking places to take portraits. The hike to the top of the mountain is pretty strenuous but during the season they have a trolley that takes people up as well! That makes only about a .2 mile hike to the top for great portraits. From the bottom of the mountain there is also a large lake and a wonderful lodge for all of your guests. The view below could be your backdrop for your wedding ceremony! Peaks of Otter
The Natural Bridge is also located in Virginia, in the town called Natural Bridge. Could you imagine getting married under this natural wonder? I can imagine photographing you getting married just around that corner in the picture below!
The Prince of Wales Hotel in Canada
The Prince of Wales Hotel is exquisite! I can imagine it perfectly, you and your groom standing on that rolling grass hill with the mountaintops blanketed with snow off in the distance. You would get to say your vows to each other and promise to your forever with these views surrounding you! I am already packing my bags!
These are just a few of my dream places to photograph couples on their wedding day, their anniversary or out for an adventure and want photographs to remember the adventure! There are so many places that I would love to travel to, so many that it is impossible to list in one blog post, but just know that I am available for traveling for your wedding day! Let’s chat! Where should I pack my bags for your adventurous and destination wedding day?
